2010 Nevada State Seniors (Cont.) August 18-20, 2010, Hidden Valley Country Club
After round one, Dean Prince of E-Club of Reno held a 2 shot lead. Dean's opening round 68 (-4) was two shots better than Dick Wenzel (70) and Steve Hakes. Frank Acker shot a 1 under 71 to sit 3 back. All competitors that were asked about their rounds said that they left alot of shots on the course and conditions were so good for scoring that they were somewhat dissappointed with their rounds.
In round two, Dean Prince followed his first round heat with an even par 72, puting him in the clubhouse at 140 (-4) and giving him a 3 shot lead over Steven Hakes and Jim Whisman of Lakeridge Golf Club. A low round of 67 (-5), lowest round of the day and the tournament, was recorded by Dave Nelson of Montreux Country Club which propelled him into a tie with Acker at even par 144, 4 shots out of the lead.
On Day three, Hakes' consistency and level head would utimately see him grinding his way to the victory with a 1 under 71 for a final total of 214 (-3) and a 1 shot victory over Wenzel, whose final round 70 (-2) put him back in contention. Acker would finish in sole possession of third place with an even par 216.
In the Net component of the event, Carlos Conchas, local member at Hidden Valley Country Club, bested the field by 2 shots with a three day total of 208 (-8). This was the first win in a Nevada event in over thirty years for Conchas. Dave Finley also proved that a little course knowledge goes along way. Finley, also from Hidden Valley CC, finished in second at 210 (-6). Jim Whisman showed his abilities in both divisions, finishing third in the net with a three day 211 (-5).

2010 US Mid Amateur Sectional QualifierKevin Noto (69) and Dick Engel (70) are the two qualifiers for the USGA Mid Amateur from the Sectional Qualifier that was held at Highland Falls Golf Club on August 30th.
