Ace Propels Abbott to the 2015 Cascata Amateur Victory

Frank Abbott has been playing golf too long to have not had a Hole in One.

The Runner Up at the 2003 U.S. Senior Amateur changed that on Hole 15 on Saturday at the 2015 Cascata Amateur. It helped grind out a rough day otherwise for Abbott, but a final round 73 helped him cruise past leader Al Kueker into a seven shot victory in the Super Senior Division.

Kueker, who shot a first round 75, ended in second place with a two day total of 159.

 

In the Super Senior Net Division, David Clement followed up a fantastic final round 64 net with a playoff win over Tom Richardson. Both players were tied after 36 holes with a score of 140 Net.

 

 

In the Senior Division, John Turk withheld a strong final round pairing to win the Championship. Turk shot 74-72 for a two day total of 146 to beat the likes of James Hill and Steven Fink by 5 shots. Guys try to make a move, but Turk was too steady to surrender the lead.

 

The Senior Net Division was decided by a playoff when Dennis Dalley and Bernard Strauss tied at 146 after 36 Holes. Dalley impressed in the playoff by playing 1 under through 3 holes to win his first SNGA Championship.

 

 

The Scratch Championship put Kenny Ebalo back in the winner’s circle. Ebalo, nicknamed “The Virus”, was the 2014 SNGA Player of the Year, but has struggled to regain form in 2015. A two day total of 144 at Cascata seemed to fix that.

Second Place went to Darrell Lutey, who battled with Ebalo for much of the final round.

The top 6 was rounded out by Kabir Nanar, Christian James, Nick Rainey and the legendary Todd Roberts.

The Net Division was captured by Jacob Rivera, who played steady golf to win his first SNGA Championship. Rivera shot 68 – 70 for a two day total of 138 to nip first round leader Mark Dudenake by 2 shots.

Rounding out the top 5 of the net division were Scott Moon, Daniel Rinaldi and Rob Zoine.

The 2015 Cascata Amateur took place in Boulder City, Nevada the weekend of August 1 & 2 at the beautiful Cascata Golf Club.
