The 2016 Cobb Whalen Cup Matches were played at Genoa Lakes Golf Club – Lakes Course in Genoa, Nevada.
The event was June 5-7, with Round one and two on June 6 and the final matches on the morning on June 7. Round one was a two man best ball, Round two a modified alternate shot, and Round three was singles matches.
12 players from the Southern Nevada Golf Association were taking on 12 players from the Northern Nevada Golf Association for bragging rights in the state. The tournament was a Net Ryder Cup style event. The players from the SNGA have been earning points over the past two seasons to qualify for their place on the team.
The SNGA Team was made up of 12 Net players. The 2016 team was very strong with a lot of talented young players representing the South. Here is a list of the players and their record for the Cobb Whalen Cup:

The SNGA won the Best Ball matches 4.5 to 1.5 in the morning of Day 1. The NNGA won the Modified Alternate Shot matches 4 to 2 in the afternoon of Day 1.
The Singles matches were dominated early by the NNGA, but the SNGA came back to tie it with two matches still on Hole 18. The SNGA lost but of those matches to lose the Cup 13-11.
