Exber proves himself again at The 2016 Laughlin Amateur Championship
Time and time again, Brady Exber has proved himself the class of Southern Nevada with Championship performances. Sunday was no different at The Laughlin Amateur Championship.
Exber, known in golf circles as ‘The Godfather’, shot even par over two days to win his second championship of the season at Mojave Resort Golf Club this weekend in Laughlin. This follows his win at the Summerlin Amateur Championship in March. Jeremy May finished in second place, eight shots back.
In the Senior Division, John Turk shot four under over 36 holes to top Steven Fink by eight shots. Turk and Fink have been battling back and forth all year, with both players winning all but one Senior Championship in 2016. The Senior Net Championship went to Randy Burton, the 2015 Nevada State Senior Net Champion, who shot two under for two days to win by 7 shots over Michael Campbell.
The Super Senior Division was up for grabs going into round two with 7 players within 5 shots of the lead. Al Kueker emerged from the pack with a second round 70 to win by one shot over Frank Abbott, John Corbin and Kevin Parrish. Kueker shot 146 for two days. The Super Senior Net winner was captured by John Kelley, who rode a first round net 65 to win his third net championship of the 2016 season.
The Net Division was won by Rob Zoine, who beat Kenneth Paul in a playoff to capture his first win of the season.
44 Players teed off on the desert course that is a hidden gem in the state of Nevada. This was the last event to get into the Top 10 Player of the Year Points Race for an exemption into the Nevada State Amateur Championship, played July 9-11 at Cascata Golf Club in Boulder City.
