UNLV women’s golf head coach Amy Bush-Herzer has been named the recipient of the 2021 Kim Evans Award, announced by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) in collaboration with the PGA of America.

The prestigious Kim Evans Award honors the lifetime achievement of the WGCA Hall of Fame coach from Auburn University. It is presented annually to the college coach and Class A PGA Professional whose support of the game through teaching, coaching and involvement in the community has helped ensure the continued growth of golf, and who represents the finest qualities the sport has to offer.

“Gratitude is the first thing I thought about after finding out about the award,” Bush-Herzer said. “I am thankful for Las Vegas, the community, and the golf professionals for trusting me and allowing me to be a part of the community for decades.”

Bush-Herzer is in her 11th year at UNLV and has led the Rebels to four Mountain West Championships, including three straight from 2016-18. She is a three-time Mountain West Coach of the Year honoree and has guided the Rebels to nine NCAA Regional appearances and a NCAA Championship appearance in 2014-15.

She coached two of the four WGCA All-Americans (Therese Koelbaek and current LPGA member Dana Finkelstein) in program history and her student-athletes have garnered 27 All-Conference honors, five Mountain West Golf of the Year honors and five Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors. Under Bush-Herzer, UNLV has captured 15 tournament titles, including two this fall.

Bush-Herzer has been a PGA member for 19 years and an active member of the Southern Nevada Chapter since 2006. She recently started a three-year term on the Chapter’s Board of Directors and also served as the President of the Southern Nevada Section PGA from 2011-13, becoming the first woman to be elected to that position. Bush-Herzer has also served on the Board of The First Tee, a youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people, and regularly hosts and assists at junior golf clinics throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

She is the first Rebel coach to earn the honor.

UNLV will begin it’s spring season hosting “The Show” at Spanish Trail Golf Club February 14-15.
