We are following Craig Barlow during his second appearance at the U.S. Senior Open. Today, he played a practice round with David Heinen and Mike Weir. Here are his thoughts. —Blog written with Brian Hurlburt, LasVegasGolfInsider.com – Photo: Mike Weir, Craig Barlow, David Heinen, Eddie Heinen.

“I played 18 holes at 7:21 am today,” Barlow said. “I played with Mike Weir and David Heinen, both good friends. There was absolutely no wind on the front nine and the course was very scoreable. I’m happy with my driver, which will be crucial to scoring this week. The way I’ll manage the course will be completely different than last year. Middle of greens are great here on 15 holes. On the other three holes, the ball needs to be front of the green. Last year was all about finding the correct section. The greens are tricky and are tough to read, but I’m getting a better handle on them.”

Also, the tee times came out and Barlow plays at 1:21 p.m. on Thursday off hole number 1 with David Branshaw and Nobuhiro Masuda.

Barlow will continue to report back throughout the week. The event is June 27-20 at Newport Country Club in Rhode Island. In 2023, Barlow shared his journey from qualifier to his tied for 14th finish that earned him a trip back to the U.S. Senior Open in 2024.
