Desert Pines Golf Club

Vegas golf meets Carolina golf at Desert Pines Golf Club which is located just minutes from burgeoning downtown Las Vegas. The downtown area is undergoing a major renaissance and the 18 holes at Desert Pines is the closest golf course to the renovated hotels, new bars and restaurants, and all of the excitement taking place within the city grid.

This oasis in the desert was designed by Perry Dye (Pete’s son) on a barren piece of land that blossomed into a scenic golf course. Water comes into play on nine of the holes, and all 18 play in the shadows of the more than 4,000 pine trees that dot the land. The building of Desert Pines in one of the poorest areas in Las Vegas transformed the neighborhood and changed the direction of an entire area. Local businesses have popped up and visitors continually flock to tee it up at Desert Pines. To this day the construction of Desert Pines remains an extremely proud moment for Bill Walters, CEO and owner of Walters Golf.

Desert Pines is one of three themed Las Vegas golf courses operated by Walters Golf. This one was built to emulate the look, feel and playing conditions of some of the top golf courses in the golf-rich Carolinas, including some that have played host to the U.S. Open. Mature pine trees, challenging greens, beautiful water holes, etc. highlight a round at Desert Pines. Royal Links and Bali Hai are the other two.

Also located at Desert Pines is a “Tokyo-style”, two-tiered practice range that is outfitted with state-of-the-art technology including automatic teeing systems, and climate controlled and shaded hitting bays. The center is lighted for night practice and features five target greens in the landing areas that are patterned after some of the country’s most famous, par 3, 17th holes. The Walters Golf Academy is also available for individual lessons or golf schools. The Academy is headed by Golf Magazine Top 100 Teaching Professional Mike Davis. A clubhouse, restaurant and pro shop are also on site.
