Primm Valley – Desert Course

There is a one guarantee when you play a golf course designed by the legendary Tom Fazio: it’s going to be good, and most likely, great. The good news for Las Vegas golfers is there are two guarantees at Primm Valley Golf Club, the Lakes and Desert Las Vegas golf courses, both designed by Fazio. These Las Vegas golf courses are located on the California/Nevada border (about 35 miles from the Las Vegas Strip), but are worth the trip, no matter where you are traveling to or from. When you play Primm, you will experience golf seclusion at its finest.

Both courses are now operated by Par 4 Golf which operates several Las Vegas Golf Region courses and offers packages and special memberships when you combine rounds at their courses. The courses at Primm Valley can also be combined with rooms at the resorts that are located in Primm, Nevada (the state border with California.) There are three resorts in Primm: Buffalo Bill’s, Primm Valley Resort and Whiskey Pete’s. Each offer live gaming and in the area is the Star of the Desert Arena, a spa, a major outlet mall, restaurants, swimming pools, a roller coaster and many other amenities needed for a fun and quality golf getaway. Other Las Vegas resorts are also available for Primm Valley golf packages.

The Lakes and Desert courses offer different golf course styles. The Lakes is a traditional layout decorated with trees and water while the Desert course is more of a true, desert golf experience.

The Desert brings more of the native Nevada and California desert into play, but isn’t as dastardly as most desert golf courses can be. Plenty of fairway width and large greens allow for errant shots to be found and hit again. And some of the desert waste areas have been softened to allow for a chance to recover.

Featured holes on the Desert include the par 3, 9th hole, which plays slightly downhill to a green that is shadowed by palm trees and feels hidden from view from any other human. The par 5, 18th hole, called “Primm Perspective” is played in between the desert vegetation to a slightly-elevated green with bunkers guarding it.

There is a nice clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant and event room that is used for both courses. An expansive practice facility is also available to all golfers and includes a large hitting area in addition to several short game areas and putting greens.

Just some of the awards that the golf courses at Primm Valley have been bestowed include “Best Overall Golf Experience” by VegasGolfer Magazine, 4.5 stars from Golf Digest, Top 100 You Can Play by Golf Magazine, and top 10 Best New Golf Courses You Can Play by Golf Digest.
