This is Las Vegas’ first private country club.

The Las Vegas Country Club, created in 1967, stands majestically mere minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. The course and clubhouse are the crown jewels of The Las Vegas Country Club Estates gated community, and offer an oasis, Central Park-like setting for residents, members and guests. The course is a classic design created by the legendary golf course architect Ed Ault. The course underwent a modernization in 2008 by Mark Rathert, a highly respected course designer.

“Staying true to a ‘classic’ style of architecture relies on maintaining playability, sustainable maintenance and overall player enjoyment not introducing overt difficulty and trendy gimmicks,” says Rathert about his work at The LVCC. “The course layout remained intact as the renovation focused on adjusting all green and bunker complexes and about a third of the tee complexes with some fairway re-contouring.

Keeping the rhythm of how the course played was an important consideration with what was considered an “easy hole” remaining a birdie opportunity while difficult holes stayed a hard par or easy bogey.” The Club also features a beautiful clubhouse, fitness center, pool, indoor/outdoor tennis courses and other top amenities. See below for more details.

The History:
The Las Vegas Country Club flourished to life in 1967 as then owner Marvin Kratter, a jet-setting businessman from New York, dumped millions into the project. The opening was met with rave reviews by Las Vegas locals and international superstars including Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour professionals.

In 1971, the course and Club were purchased by a group of four influential Las Vegas business leaders. Irwin Molasky, Moe Dalitz, Allard Roen and Merv Adelson took the Club to the highest level of prominence. Among the members of the Club over the years were Steve Wynn, Kirk Kerkorian, Perry Thomas and Jerry Mack, Mayors Carolyn and Oscar Goodman, Governor Bob Miller and many more of politicos, gaming giants, celebrities and, most infamously, alleged mafia figures.

In 1982, a group called The Las Vegas Founders Club was created and the philanthropic organization—made up mainly of Club members—worked to bring the PGA TOUR back to Las Vegas. In 1983, the Las Vegas Pro-Celebrity Classic was played at the Club and it featured the first million-dollar purse in PGA TOUR history. The Club hosted the event—which later became the Las Vegas Invitational and now the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open—for several years and also hosted events on the LPGA Tour.

“It is astonishing to see such serenity, such charm, and something so timeless, in such proximity to the strip, the noisy pulse of our city,” said Andre Agassi, Tennis Hall of Famer, in the pages of The Las Vegas Country Club: Chronicle of an Icon. “… Golfers, tennis players and many of the families that are the fabric of Las Vegas take time to connect and enjoy the refuge and the beauty of nature in a way you could not find anywhere else in our city. The Las Vegas Country Club is a fixture in our community and has played a vital role in my professional tennis career.” It has long been said that Las Vegas happens at The Las Vegas Country Club.
