Regina Quintero has long been one of the best women’s golfers in Nevada. Now, the all-around athlete and administrator has earned induction into the Nevada Interscholastic Athletics Association Hall of Fame.
Quintero was an athlete at Mineral County High (1982) and then went to become the athletic Director, coach (girls volleyball, girls golf, softball, boys golf) and contributor at Boulder City High School. The honor was very much appreciated by Quintero.
“I thought the induction was a great honor,” Quintero said. “After being involved with Education Based Athletics for the last 30 something years, it means a lot. I’m proud to say that I was a part of something that is very important and needed for kids. Athletics and activities are a huge part of kids’ lives and being able to take advantage of the possibilities that are offered is a great thing. Along with the teamwork and sportsmanship factors, there are a lot of lessons that are learned with participation. I’m happy that I had the opportunity to teach those qualities.”
Quintero is a member of the Walker River Paiute tribe and is the third NIAA inductee to go in the Hall of Fame in all three categories. She is a past state athletic director of the year and Award of Merit honoree by the NIAA. She also coached for 36 years.
Quintero was also inducted in to the Boulder City High Eagle Hall of Fame in 2017.
