Nancy Lauback, WSNGA Team Play Coordinator, said the series finale was the culmination of an impressive year.

“It was just a fantastic effort by everyone,” she said. “We started off with cold weather and then came the middle of the season when everyone started pushing to get into the playoffs. In the end, it was a great finish to a great season.”

Overall

BC Rock Steady lived up to the team name as the squad played steady all year and rolled to a 19-5 victory over the Business Women.

The overall team portion combined both gross and net results to come up with the 24 point total.

BC Rock Steady team members were: Ronda Henderson, Regina Quintero, Laura Smith, Debbie Love, Sherry Jackson, Sue Rambo, Kathy Yee and Shana Pederson.

“All of the ladies really stepped up,” said Ronda Henderson, captain of the BC Rock Steady team. “And it wasn’t just today…it was all year. Whatever was best for the team, everyone was on board.”

Henderson said the victory was sweet…and a long time coming.

“This is the third year in a row we have gone up against the Business Women and we lost the last two,” Henderson said. “As a rallying point, we weren’t going to let them repeat.”

Henderson added in the end it was a victory the team will savor.

“We were determined to come out strong,” she said. “We all said this was our year. Last year we only lost by a half-point and we were focused to make sure to give it our best effort.”

Gross

Chimera Silver came away with an 8-4 victory over Los Prados in the Gross Division.

Chimera Silver team members were Minhae Doherty, Lisa Lee, Peggy Gore, Ruta Levi, Julie Hahn, Sandy Barletta, Tiffini Phu and Sue May.

Peggy Gore, Chimera Silver captain, said the team finally got over the hump.

“We’ve been the bridesmaid so many times but never been the bride,” she said with a laugh. “We’ve been in the playoffs so many times but never won.”

Now, they wear the crown.

“We played good golf all year and this was just a great way to finish the season,” she said. “We picked out the right lineup and the girls ham and egged it well today.”

She said the lineup worked out well.

“The hard part was going down the lineup and picking the top gross players who were playing the best,” she said. “It was all about who was playing the best golf and it all worked out well for us.”

Net

Anthem beat Siena 8.5-3.5 to win the Net crown.

The winning squad was composed of Diann Tonnesen, Marquelle Bohn, Donna McKendry, Sherilyn Sasso, Laura Erhardt, Ravonda Richardson, Sue Goode and Laura Guanci.

For Anthem captain Donna McKendry, it was quite the turnaround.

“My gosh, we are ecstatic,” she said. “We were almost in last place last year and to win this year is stunning.”

She added the teamwork was the big difference.

“The ladies just pulled together and there was so much camaraderie,” she said. “We came out to Boulder Creek for practice rounds and everyone really put the work in.”

She said the win shows how much hard work can pay off.

“Last year was our first time back after five or six years,” she said. “We weren’t quite as together as a team last year and it showed. But this year, we were very much together and all played well as a team.”
