Hinds, Henderson, Bott Win 2023 Las Vegas Women’s City Am Titles
In the 2nd Annual Las Vegas Women’s City Amateur, Emmerson Hinds, Ronda Henderson and Shayna Bott earned prestigious titles at Las Vegas Golf Club. The event was held during Las Vegas City Am Week.
Hinds, a Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association member who just won the Nevada State 3A title, won the scratch division.
“I’m very happy to win it because it’s in my hometown and city, so it’s really nice to be the Las Vegas City Am champion,” Hinds said. “It’s definitely very cool to be part of something that’s just starting, but also getting so big. It will be cool to see it grow over the years and be able to etch my name in that history is something I will always remember.”
Henderson is one of the best women amateur golfers in Nevada and Southern Nevada, and missed the event in 2022 due to injuries. She made up for lost time and won the Senior Scratch division.
“I am very excited because I wasn’t able to play in the inaugural event last year,” Henderson said. “I know the men’s event is full of history, and have been playing this tournament for 50 some odd years, if not more. To be a winner at the start of what I hope to be a 50-year history with for the ladies is special.”
Bott was shy during the interviews, but on the course where she won the net division.
“I’m just super excited to be a part of it,” Bott said about her second WSNGA victory. “Yesterday I was playing pretty well and felt pretty good about a lot of my game. During the final round, I did not feel the same, but I survived to win.”
