Four Southern Nevada Golfers Add Tour Titles at Nicklaus’ Coyote Springs
LAS VEGAS, NV (Sept. 18, 2025)–Bryan Baird (Championship), Todd Roberts (Senior), Ron Harwood (Silver) and Pierre Valentini (Net) won titles in the 2025 SNGA Tour Stableford event. The tournament was held Sept. 18, 2025, at Coyote Springs Golf Club.–by Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider
The tournament featured a Modified Stableford format. Players were awarded seven points for a double eagle or better, five points for an eagle, three points for a birdie, two points for a par and one point for a bogey. Players lost two points for a double bogey or worse.
Championship
Bryan Baird won for the first time in SNGA play, putting points on the scorecard on every hole in winning the Championship Division.
Baird posted birdies on two of his first three holes starting the back nine (six points) to boost his confidence.
“This was my first time winning so it was nice to get a breakthrough victory,” said Baird, a full-time poker player who moved to Las Vegas in 2009.
He said playing poker has translated well to his golf life.
“A lot of times I played the better odds and didn’t shoot at every flag,” he said. “I would shoot for the fat side of the green. Golf and poker are very similar in that you’ve got to manage the disappointment and just move on to the next hand…or in this case, the next hole.”
He added the win has him excited for more tournament play.
“I’m playing more and more tournaments and getting more comfortable in tournament settings,” he said. “I’m looking forward to playing in more of them.”

Senior
Todd Roberts birdied three of his first six holes en route to a two-point win in the Senior Division.
Roberts, who had six birdies in the round, won for the second time in 2025.
“I really played well,” Roberts said. “I hit a lot of greens and was never in any trouble.”
He also said playing with John Bobroski, who finished runnerup, also helped.
“He played really well and kept pushing me,” Roberts said. “He hit it close a lot and I hit it close a lot and we both made a lot of putts. I just had to keep grinding.”
Roberts added it’s nice to get back on the course…and to win.
“I’ve only played one round of golf since the Cascata tournament a month ago,” he said. “I purposefully entered this one to get a tournament round in…and it was nice to win.”
Roberts said despite the lack of playing time, his game is solid.
“From tee to green my game’s been good,” he said. “But my putting was terrible for most of the year. I wasn’t making the makeable short putts and it was hurting me. The day before Cascata I got a new putter and started making those short, makeable ones and I’m putting well now. And I’m getting more confident. It’s put my game back on track.”

Ron Harwood kept up his winning ways as he won a scorecard playoff for his fourth victory of 2025.
Harwood beat Dennis Cole in the scorecard playoff. For the round, Harwood had birdies on two of the par 3s to boost his point total.
“Today I got lucky,” Harwood said. “Down the stretch I putted pretty well and parred the last four holes while Dennis struggled a little on a couple of holes.”
He said a new putter has made all the difference.
“I bought a new putter that I used at the City Am,” he said. “I putted really well there and I’ve been putting well ever since. It’s made a big difference. I made a few four-and-five footers for par down the stretch that helped the confidence a lot.”
And he added that at Coyote Springs, it was a great sign.
“The greens were tough to read and quick,” he said. “I did have one three-putt where I had a putt 360 on me but I’m getting more and more confident with this putter. Once you get the ball rolling well, it can make up for a lot of bad shots.”

Net
Pierre Valentini had a net birdie on the final hole to break out of a three-way tie in winning the Net title for his first SNGA victory.
“It’s only my second event so this is really great,” Valentini said. “I played about two months ago at Paiute and then this one. I’m definitely going to play more SNGA events because they do such a great job in organizing these events and they are held on a lot of great courses around Vegas.”
Valentini said he had a shocking key to his win.
“My iron play was the best part of my game,” he said. “I wasn’t great off the tee and I didn’t putt very well. I had six or seven birdie opportunities inside of 10 feet and only made a couple of them. That’s something I’m really going to have to work on. That’s the scoring stick and I didn’t score very well with it today.”
But, he did finish strong.
“I had no idea I was that close (to winning),” he said. “I was in the fairway and hit a decent iron shot into the green. I lipped out the birdie putt and then tapped in for the par (net birdie).”
