Andy Schaper, Boulder City director of golf, has much to be proud about when it comes to Boulder Creek Golf Club, a 27-hole layout and sister course to Boulder City Municipal Golf Course. “The Creek” hosts dozens of major junior, high school, college, professional and amateur tournaments annually, the most of any course in Southern Nevada. The next ones up are the SNGA Clark County Amateur and Senior Amateur tournaments. –By Brian Hurlburt, LasVegasGolfInsider.com.

“What I like to say is we host tournaments from 6-60 and for so many to entrust us with top-level tournaments means a lot and we take a lot of pride in what we do,” says Schaper. “We are proud to host county-wide tournaments for the SNGA and that means our course is sought after to be played by the top players in Southern Nevada.”

Boulder Creek hosts a half-dozen college tournaments including a UNLV women’s golf tournament plus home tournaments for both the South Dakota State men’s and women’s teams. The course also hosts several Shriners Hospitals for Children Open PGA Tour event qualifiers and this year hosted the PGA Jr. League Regionals. It has also hosted state high school championships and other tournaments.

“I really think players enjoy playing here and coming back to play here because on a calm day there can be very low scores, but when the wind comes up, it can be very challenging and the course is always changing,” Schaper says. “Like I said, our entire staff is proud to host these great tournaments and players.”

Greg Horodesky (Championship) and Robert Golden (Net) are Clark County Amateur defending champions. Gordon Schiring (Senior) and John Garrett (Silver) came away with victories in the gross divisions of the 2018 Clark County Senior Amateur Championship while Hugh Manning (Senior) and Jim Cail (Silver) won net division crowns in 2018.
