LAS VEGAS, NV (May 30, 2025)–Matt Mitchell (Championship), John Bobroski (Senior), Steve Fink (Silver) and Josh Shirota (Net) won titles in the SNGA Tour’s stop at Las Vegas Golf Club. The tournament was held May 30, 2025, at Las Vegas Golf Club.—by Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider

Matt Mitchell opened the round with a bogey but then hit his stride, carding a seven-under-par 65 for the victory.

He posted five birdies over the next seven holes, including three in a row, in winning for the first time in 2025.

Mitchell, who works in the gaming industry, won six times in 2024 including two individual titles and four team championships.

He started with a bogey on his first hole, the 10th, but said that was no problem.

“It’s probably the hardest hole out there so it wasn’t a terrible bogey,” he said. “After that, I kind of had everything going pretty well.”

How well?

“I’ve been hitting the ball solid and I made some pretty good putts today,” he said. “I had a couple of good birdie putts go in on 16 and 17 and those helped the confidence.”

He said the win is a great way to launch his summer schedule.

“I’m looking forward to a lot of SNGA and Nevada state events,” he said. “There are a lot of good tournaments coming up and I’m excited for the chance to play well.”

Even with the low score, he’s still looking to improve.
“I’m always working on consistency and my putting,” he said. “Those are the two things that are key and today was a good start on improving those.”

Senior

John Bobroski won for the third time in 2025, posting a three-stroke victory in the Senior Division.
Bobroski put five birdies on the scorecard in the round to go along with just two bogeys.

“I’m hitting the ball really well,” Bobroski said. “I hit all the par 5s in two but unfortunately I three-putted one of them.”

Ah, yes a three-putt.

“In fact, I had two three-putts today,” he said. “I still have to work on the putting a little more.”
He added his game was solid.
“I kept everything in play off the drive,” he said. “I hit 15 of 18 greens. It was solid play…that’s all it is.”
Now his goal is to keep it going.
“I have a simple thought process and it’s working for me,” he said. “I’ll just keep riding it until it ends.”

Silver

Three birdies in a four-hole stretch helped Steve Fink race out to an early lead en route to a four-stroke win in the Silver Division.
It was Fink’s first victory of 2025 after getting into the winner’s circle five times last season.
Fink, who had a bogey-free round, said the key was Thursday.

“I came out early and practiced,” he said. “I putted for two hours, worked on my routine and got a feel for the greens. I had better focus with my routine.”

Fink said he wasn’t sure what to expect.

“I shot 81 at Bear’s Best on Wednesday and nothing went well,” he said. “Today, everything worked.”

He said his 66 was a nice number to put on the board.

“I beat my age (68) for a change and that’s very rare for me,” he said with a laugh.
In the end, he knows there’s still work to do.

“I hit driver well half the time,” he said. “When I left it in the bag and hit 3-wood, that helped. I’ve still got work to do before next week (the Las Vegas Senior City Amateur, also at Las Vegas Golf Club).”

Steve Fink, 66

Josh Shirota saved the best for last as he posted a net eagle on the final hole to win the Net title by one stroke.
It was Shirota’s first SNGA victory in just his second tournament.

“I was just trying to stay focused and not think about the scorecard,” Shirota said. “It was just one shot at a time.”

He said the final hole turned out just as he hoped…in the end.

“I was really thinking about making birdie on the last hole,” he said. “I made the birdie but then saw I popped on the hole for an eagle.”

He’s already thinking about what parts of his game he still wants to work on.

“I lost a few strokes putting so I definitely need to work on that a little,” he said. “I feel good off the tee and with my approach shots. But I still need to get a little more comfortable around the greens.”
