Four Teams Earn Titles In 2025 SNGA Tour Stableford Championship at Bear’s Best
LAS VEGAS, NV (May 28, 2025)–The teams of Greg Horodesky-Eric Bauman (Championship), James Corey-Rick Sepp (Senior), John Steele-David Foggia (Silver) and Aron Suci-Adam Pion (Net) won titles in the SNGA Tour’s Team Stableford Championship. The tournament was held May 28, 2025, at Bear’s Best Las Vegas.—by Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider
The tournament format featured a modified Stableford scoring and awarded points for double eagles (7 points), eagles (5 points), birdies (3 points), pars (2 points) and bogeys (1 point). Players earned zero points for double bogeys or worse.
Championship
Greg Horodesky and Eric Bauman had back-to-back birdies–one each–late in the round to win the Championship Division by two points.
The duo had just three birdies on the day but picked up at least two points on 17 of the 18 holes.
“We didn’t quite get the format until we got to the first hole,” Horodesky said of the format that saw both players’ scores counting. “It made it more of a challenge. It was a whole different deal and made it that much harder.”
But the duo’s gameplan got them in the winner’s circle.
“We had a real good day,” he said. “We just both wanted to stay in the hole. If you’re in your pocket, it puts a lot of pressure on your partner.”
Horodesky added that a par on the 18th hole by Bauman was eye-opening.
“Eric played phenomenal, especially on 18,” he said. “We were both in the sand and for him to par the hole was impressive.”
He added their late birdies, one on 16 and one on 17, helped calm the nerves.
“Those were great,” Horodesky said. “The 18th hole is such a tough hole and those birdies gave us just a little bit of an edge heading to that final hole.”

Senior
James Corey and Rick Sepp picked up 17 points in the first four holes (seven pars and a birdie) in winning the Senior title by three points.
For the day the duo recorded five birdies, three by Sepp and two by Corey.
“James and I teamed up a few years ago in a two-day SNGA Senior event but this is our first win,” Sepp said. “I was a substitute for Brian (Hurlburt) who was injured so I wasn’t even expecting to play.”
He said overall the format was a challenge.
“It’s a difficult format,” he said. “You’ve got to both play out the hole. There’s no taking the best score…it’s both scores counting and that puts more pressure on both players.”
Sepp said the start was just what the team needed.
“We had a real good first few holes and that got us in a pretty good rhythm,” he said. “We did have a couple of holes where we struggled but overall it was pretty steady.”

Silver
John Steele (two) and David Foggia (one) had three birdies in a five-hole stretch mid-way through the round in picking up the Silver Division title.
Steele said the format caused the duo to look at the tournament in a different light.
“I’ve played in a lot of four-ball matches but never one that was combined like this one,” he said. “It definitely was interesting.”
Steele said their goal was simple: “We were happy to hit the ball to the middle of the green and make pars,” he said. “In a normal four-ball, if one player is in the middle of the green the other player can be more aggressive in going for the pin.”
He said their back nine sealed the deal.
“We got lucky on the back nine and had a couple of birdies (three) and that clinched it for us,” Steele said. “It was a tough day. The pin locations were pretty tough and we thought two pars on every hole would be the right approach. Of course we didn’t do that and failed on a few holes but we did accomplish it quite a bit of the time.”

Net
Adam Pion and Aron Suci both had rounds to remember as they posted a 12-point victory in the Net Division.
Between the two of them, they put a natural eagle on the scorecard to go along with 14 birdies (five natural and nine net).
“It was wild,” Suci said. “It was the best round of my life and it’s not even close. It’s the only time I’ve ever gone without a bogey.”
He said Pion was also in a groove.
“Adam played so well,” Suci said. “He made a lot of clutch putts and he was on fire on the back (six birdies in a seven-hole stretch). It was one of those rounds you can’t even dream about.”
Suci said a pair of holes stand out for him.
“On the ninth, I holed out from 150 yards for an eagle,” he said. “Then on 18 I hit a drive that should have gone in the water. It hit the outcropping rocks and that kept it in the bunker. That left me with 200 yards in and I hit it on the green and two putted for a par. It was just a wild day.”
