Ed Fryatt takes the Championship in Laughlin; White wins the Net
Former PGA Tour Player Ed Fryatt won the Laughlin Amateur with an impressive 2 day total of 6 under par, 138. Fryatt, who shot 66 in the opening round, is grinding in the SNGA to have a chance to make the Pacific Coast Amateur Morse Team. This win went a long way in securing that chance. Ryan Mccullough, who is also fighting for the Pac Coast Team, finished in second and continues to look good for making his first National Championship Team.
Ed White won the Net Division with rounds of 72-72 net to shoot even par. Ken Paul, the over night leader with a 71 Net, shot a second round 78 to hold on to second from third place finisher Rob Zoine.
In the Senior Division, past SNGA President, Steven Fink, shot 71-75 for a 9 shot win over the rest of the field. Besides for a triple bogey on the tough 6th hole Day 2, Fink played flawless golf like a craps player avoiding 7’s. Fink moved into 3rd place in the Senior Player of the Year standing, an award he won in 2012. In second place and first place for the Senior Net Division, Angelo Morgan showed the SNGA the toughness of Southern Cal golf. Morgan, who lives in Laughlin and Southern California, played steady golf of two days to win his first SNGA Championship.
The Super Senior Division was looking like a great competition as all the big wigs showed up including Frank Abbott, John Corbin, and Jeffrey English. But after an impressive 69 by Abbott in round 1, the division realized that they are always going to be chasing the 2014 Super Senior Player of the Year. Abbott, as steady as ever, shot 69-76 to win the Championship by 3 shots over Southern Cal local legend Stephen Wilson. Jim Burger finished in 9th Place, but won the Super senior net division with a two day total of 144. Burger, the 2014 Super Senior Player of the Year, continues to show consistency in every aspect of his game.
