Sheehan won the state am a record four times. Joels has won three of the last four state events in the championship division. In 2022, Joels is scheduled to play a course she knows very well and has played several times in tournament action and many times during practice sessions with the UNLV women’s golf team.
“I have a lot of pride to be the Nevada champion and represent my state,” Joels said after the victory in 2021. “It’s just super exciting.”
The odds are most likely in her favor on her quest for number four. In 2021, Joels was a birdie machine and hopes to keep that going. Her UNLV teammate, Aliyah Williams, was second while Jill Beglin was third.
Also, the Silver State division will feature gross winners and net winners 18+ again in 2022. In 2021, Christy Atencio (gross) and Robin Rakusin (net) earned victories.
So, all women should sign up and play and enjoy a STATE event.
Registration note: Golfers age 18 or over as of day 1 of the Championship may choose which division they would like to play in and therefore which course yardage they would like to play. The maximum handicap allowed for this Championship is a course handicap of 36. Players with a higher handicap may play but will be limited to a 36.
