Southern Nevada Women Golfers Earn Titles at 2025 Stableford Event at Mountain Falls
Melody Frei (Gross) and Sandy Barletta (Net) won titles at the 2025 WSNGA Stableford Tournament. The two-day tournament was held Oct. 27-28, 2025 at Mountain Falls Golf Club in Pahrump.—by Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider
The tournament featured a Stableford format with four points awarded for an eagle, three points for a birdie, two points for a par and one point for a bogey. Players received zero points for a double bogey or worse.

Melody Frei scored at least one point on every hole in the first round en route to an 11-point victory.
“This was great,” Frei said. “I’m very new to competitive golf. I’m from Washington state and moved here a year ago. The women’s golf in Southern Nevada…I don’t think people realize how great it is here. You get to meet so many great people and play so many great courses. It’s just been wonderful to see how many women are involved in the golf here.”
Frei said her solid play was kick-started in the first round.
“I was making a lot of putts and my ball-striking was good,” she said. “Today…it was tough. I was in the rough and it was so rough that it cost me a couple of double bogeys.”
She said the win will boost her confidence going forward.
“I have a really cool team at Chimera that urged me to get more involved with tournaments,” she said. “It’s intimidating to play in competition like this rather than just playing with your friends.”
She said she’s already set for her next events.
“This is just the beginning of the journey,” she said. “When I started, I was so scared to even swing when the mower guy came near me. Now, I’m getting more and more comfortable.”

Sandy Barletta had five net birdies in the first round, good enough for three points each, en route to a one-point win in the Net Division.
“This was totally unexpected,” Barletta said. “I haven’t been playing as much golf over the past year with a few family obligations but it’s nice to be back out there.”
Bartlett added she’s won this event before.
“The first time I played in it was 2023 and I won the overall net as well so I think this is my tournament,” she said with a laugh.
She said her first round set a great tone.
“Day 1 clinched it for me,” she said. “I recently had a lesson from Tony Lawson at WildHorse and he helped me with driver issues. I executed the advice he gave me. I’m going to be sending Tony a picture of my trophy to thank him and put him on my Christmas list.”
Bartlett came into the tournament not knowing what to expect.
“I just didn’t want to embarrass myself,” she said. “It’s a fun format. You can have a blowup hole and not be out of the tournament. I had more expectations the second day because I played well the first day. There were more nerves the second day.”
