Teams Earn Titles at 2020 SNGA Tour Four-Ball at Boulder City
Brady Exber and Kevin Marsh teamed up to win the Championship Division of the 2020 SNGA Tour Four-Ball Championship by one stroke. Joseph Noya and Charlie Berydas posted a two-stroke victory in the Net Division. Other duos winning titles were Roberts/Acker, Carlin/Moon, Turk/Carpendale and Becker/Sabati. Championship
Brady Exber was quick to give the credit for the victory to Kevin Marsh as the duo won the title by one.
“Kevin played great right from the very beginning,” Exber said. “He had a great second shot on the first hole and just missed his eagle putt and tapped in for birdie. And he kept it up the whole round.”
Exber said Marsh’s ball-striking was something to see. “It was impressive and I had the best seat in the house,” he said with a laugh.
Marsh, who had five eagle putts on the day but came away with birdies on all five, said both of them just played solid golf.
“It was one of those days,” Marsh said. “We were only in trouble on three holes and came away with pars on all three.”
And he said those pars were key.
“Making bogeys in best-ball is really criminal,” he said. “And especially on a course like this where everyone’s making birdies. If you make a bogey, it takes a couple of birdies just to get it back to even.”
Exber said the par-3, 14th hole was the biggest challenge for the duo.
“We both hit terrible tee shots but got up-and-down for par,” he said. “That was big.”

Joseph Noya and Charlie Berydas each posted an eagle as the duo won the Net Division title by two strokes. It was the first SNGA title for both players.
Neither players’ eagle came conventionally. Berydas holed a wedge on the par-5 fifth hole while Noya made a 10-foot eagle putt after driving the short par-4 eighth hole.
They played the last five holes one-under-par to seal the victory.
“It was awesome,” Berydas said. “We really ham-and-egged it well. It was the first time we had played together and it worked out well. If one of us didn’t play a hole well, the other one stepped up.”
The duo birdied the first hole but then put a bogey on the card at the par-4 third hole.
“I had two three putts and that was one of them,” Noya said. “I gave the birdie putt on the third hole a little extra and it went about seven feet past the hole and I missed the one coming back. Then I three-putted the next hole from 20 feet. I thought ‘is this the way it’s going to be today?’ But then I birdied the next hole.”
But while Noya did birdie the fifth, Berydas’ hole-out one-upped him and got the team back under-par for the day.
“That chip in kind of got us going,” Berydas said. “We were kind of stuck in the early going.”
The second eagle came three holes later when Noya made a 10-foot putt on the 8th hole.
“That was a big one,” he said of his score on the par-4 hole. “Charlie was just off the fairway so I thought I might as well go for it. I hit a nice cut shot and it hit the green and just stopped and then I managed to make the putt.”

Senior
Todd Roberts and Frank Acker won the Senior Division title in a scorecard playoff over Robert Futrell and Joe Sawaia. Both teams came in with six-under-par 66s.
Roberts and Acker didn’t put a bogey on the card while Futrell and Sawaia had a bogey on the par-4 11th.

Patrick Carlin put two birdies and eight net birdies on the scorecard to lead the Carlin-Scott Moon team to a three-shot victory in the Senior Net Division.
Six of Carlin’s birdies came on the front nine as the duo jumped out to a lead and another four birdies on the back nine cemented the victory.

The team of John Turk and Gary Carpendale played the front nine in five-under-par including an eagle and three birdies en route to a four-stroke victory.
Carpendale had all three birdies on the front nine while Turk put the eagle on the scorecard.
The back nine saw the duo post their lone bogey on the 10th hole but finished their round with birdies on 17 and 18.
