Zoe Parker put up four birdies in a five-hole stretch in the final round to rally from a five-shot deficit to win the title.
Parker had eight birdies in the final round.
Parker, who is playing college golf at Boise State, said winning the historic event will boost her confidence.
“Oh my gosh…this is so surreal,” she said “This is a tournament I have been looking at since I was a junior so to have the opportunity to play it and win it, especially in my hometown, has a true impact on who I am as a player and I could not be more grateful.”
She said the big-time tournament aspect helped her focus.
“I’ve grown up playing Muni and know the course well,” she said. “Coming into today I was in fifth or sixth place and I felt like I had nothing to lose. I just told myself to put it all out there. I just told myself ‘I can do this.’ ”
But even she was surprised at her round.
“It wasn’t until after the final hole that I realized I was five-under,” she said. “I was just out there playing solid golf and having fun. After 18, I said…I wonder what I shot and then saw it was 67 and I said, ‘Wow, I haven’t gone that low in a long time.’ It was just a great day.”
She said her play on the greens turned her tournament around the second day.
“I stuck it pretty close today and my putter got hot,” she said. “It seemed like just about everything went in.”
Overall, she said this win was just what she needed.
“It’s starting to sink in,” she said of her win in the prestigious event. “I’m going to take a lot away from this tournament…mostly the feeling of relaxing and just playing good, solid golf.”

Senior Gross
An even-par first round helped Stephanie Southbloom post a four-shot victory in the Senior Gross Division.
Southbloom said winning the title was great…and unexpected.
“It was my first time playing in the event and the first time playing the course so I’m very excited,” she said. “It won’t be my last time.”
Southbllom, a recent transplant to Nevada who lives in Mesquite, said she’s impressed with the WSNGA as well as the big-time feel of the tournament.
“This is one of my first individual tournaments and it was impressive,” she said. “I love the course. It was a fun layout and made you think about shots.”
Southbloom said her first 18 holes made the difference.
“My round yesterday I shot even-par,” she said, “Today…not so much. But yesterday, things were working out well. I didn’t miss a shot inside 100 yards. I hit a lot of greens and I was making putts. Today I had to scramble and just try to hang in there.”
Now, having an impressive trophy on her mantle will drive her to keep competing.
“I played with fun ladies all weekend,” she said, “It was just an impressive tournament and I had a lot of fun. I will definitely do it again.”

Yipeng Liu played an eight-hole stretch during the final round in nine-under-par–seven net birdies and a net eagle–in winning the Net title.
For the two-day event, Liu had three net eagles in winning a WSNGA event for the first time.
“This was my first-ever golf tournament,” she said. “It was exciting to be in competition.”
The importance of her win in a major wasn’t lost on Liu.
“I’m really proud to win this event,” she said. “It gave me a lot of confidence to compete going forward.”
She said she came into the tournament with no expectations.
“I just wanted to have fun,” she said. “I didn’t expect to win at all. I just strive to improve all the time.”
She said the key to her win was simple.
“My driver and my chipping were very good,” she said. “I didn’t miss a fairway today. I don’t think I’ve ever done that before.”
She said the accuracy is nice, but there were some drawbacks,.
“I was the shortest driver in my group both days but they were always in the fairway,” she said with a laugh.
