In the end, Tyson Lund, Scott Taylor, Wes Taylor, Dylan Fritz, William White and Gary Carpendale earned their place in the elite event.
There are also five alternates: Andrew Yeh, R. C. Orr, Tim Velasquez, Max Davis and Joseph Dotta.
Lund posted the medalist round of the day, a 3-under-par 68. He had six birdies on the day to go along with a bogey and a double bogey. Scott Taylor, at one-under-par, was the only other player to break par.
The Nevada State Match Play Championship, which will be played over four days, features an 18-hole seeding round on Sunday, July 28. Monday will see two match play rounds (the round of 32 followed by the round of 16). Tuesday will have the quarterfinal round in the morning and the semifinal round that afternoon. That will set up a 36-hole finale on Wednesday.
“The fact that we’re going to be able to compete in a state event at The Summit is enormous,” said Tim Brand, SNGA tournament director. “We had 48 guys out here trying to qualify and in my opinion a lot of them are here because of where the championship is going to be played.”
The Summit, Las Vegas’ newest private club, is an 18-hole layout designed by Tom Fazio. The par-72 course reaches 7,459 yards from the tips.
