COVID-19 Golf Updates – Best Practices Moving Forward

The Southern Nevada Golf Association and United States Golf Association and allied golf associations have worked to create the best practices for playing golf and keeping courses open during the COVID-19 emergency. On Friday, March 20, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak officially ruled that courses can remain open if clubhouse operations closed. With that in mind, here are BEST PRACTICES and listing of courses open and closed (this will fluctuate, as the situation moves along).

BEST PRACTICES FOR PLAYING GOLF DURING COVID-19

While this worldwide crisis is in full swing, a bit of fresh air and exercise with proper precaution can be of benefit.  During this unusual time in our world the golf industry is providing some Best Practices Tips on playing a round of golf.  The golf industry in Southern Nevada is committed to the safety of our players, friends and family members.  Please use caution when playing your next round of golf.

• All clubhouse operations have been discontinued by the Nevada State Governor’s office as of March 20, 2020.
• Many golf courses are only accepting pre-paid tee times online. This allows the guest to go directly to the first tee.
• You must load your own golf clubs on the golf cart.
• Outside services staff may not load or clean your clubs.
• Golf carts will be thoroughly sanitized periodically.
• Player’s should ride one per cart or walk for their round.
• Tee times will be limited.
• Players may not remove flag sticks when putting.
• Cups on greens will be altered so that balls will be easily accessible.
• Most courses have removed items such as rakes and ball washers from the golf course.
• Food will be available for takeout only.
• No direct contact with any staff members.
• Stringent cleaning protocols have been implemented around the golf course.
• Groups will not be permitted to congregate on tee boxes.
• Groups must remain isolated.
