Ed Fryatt makes a splash on the 2015 season with a big win and confidence booster at the 2015 Primm Amateur this last weekend. After shooting a first round 68, Fryatt cruised in Round 2 with a 69 to beat the likes of Ryan Mccullough, Kenny Ebalo and Darrell Lutey.
Ebalo, who was the 2014 SNGA player of the year, has the course record on the Desert Course with a 60 from 7 years ago. Saturday was a different story out there for him as he struggled to a one over 73. This lack of pressure on the leader and the fact that Fryatt is starting to play some great golf with the SNGA, led to an easy victory for the former PGA Tour Player.
In fourth place for the scratch division was Alex Lyon who got a Hole in One on the 17th Hole on Sunday at the Lakes course. Lyon admitted he didn’t “hit it well”, but we still congratulate the young man on a terrific tournament achievement.
In the Senior Division, Brian McShane beat Cyrus Whitney on the second hole of a sudden death playoff. McShane made a 25 footer to take the championship. McShane and Whitney tied at 147. Steven Fink, a past Senior Player of the Year, finished in 3rd with a two day total of 150. Senior Net was won by Jimmy Clark, with an even par two day total of 143. Clark is a regular with the SNGA and all the competitive rounds finally paid off for the young senior.
In the Super Senior Division, John Corbin continues to roll as 71-73=144 earned a three shot victory over Stephen Wilson and Frank Abbott. This is Corbin’s second win of the year, following his Tournament of Champions victory in early January. Super Senior net was won by Ilia Lozev, with a two day total of 68-72=142.
In the Net Division, Ed White won another championship with his great play and ability to be consistent. White had a two day total of 141. White wasn’t alone as William Kraus, John Thompson, and James Abernathy all had a chance to win down the stretch.
