Michael Sebetic enjoyed his time as a PJ Boatwright intern with the Southern Nevada Golf Association in 2019-2020 so much that he knew he had to return in a bigger role when the opportunity presented itself. As of January 2025, Sebetic is the new director, SNGA rules and competitions.

“I am excited to be back in Vegas, in general, and to be back with the team here at the SNGA,” Sebetic says. “I worked with Tim Brand (asst. executive director) closely last time and learned a lot from him. I look forward to learning even more from him. This is a bigger role for me, which I have been seeking out. I am ready for the challenge.”

Between his time with the SNGA in 2019 and the present, Sebetic served as the Manager of Competitions for the Connecticut State Golf Association. Sebetic grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Elon University in 2019.

Brand says they found the right person for the role, and Sebetic should hit the ground running.

“The SNGA has a wonderful new addition to the team,” Brand says. “Michael has an advanced certification in the Rules of Golf and solid experience running tournaments at a high level. His year here was a big plus for us in the hiring process because he has a familiarity with the association and we were able to see his strong work ethic first hand. I expect him to lean on his experience both with us and the Connecticut State Golf Association and take full control of running all of the SNGA’s competitions. This also comes at a great time for me as I transition into other roles and responsibilities such as course rating, handicapping, marketing, and helping to manage the overall day-to-day operations. I know his addition to the team will only help us in our goal of reaching new members and providing the highest level of service to our existing ones.”

Sebetic understands the Golf Genius software intricately and will work to build solid relationships with the players and also bring his ideas to the tournaments.

“I will pull from my past experiences in Connecticut to see if I can add any improvements to tournaments here and hopefully make it as good of an experience as it can possibly be for our tournament golfers,” Sebetic says. “I know the SNGA has a very good foundation and I look forward to working with Tim and the team to keep raising the bar. In Connecticut, I really enjoyed picking the players’ brains to learn how they view how tournaments are operated and how they see course setups and what they like to see. I like to have open conversations with the players and I look forward to meeting them and learning right from the start.”
