Like the rest of the world, the DragonRidge Ladies Golf Association has dealt with the coronavirus in 2020 by following governmental and club guidelines. But DragonRidge Country Club Ladies Golf Association president Debbie Love is still looking to grow the membership and they have rescheduled major events. And, Love says, just being a part of the DragonRidge community is a nice selling point.

“The first thing that comes to mind about DragonRidge Country Club is it’s mountainside beauty,” says Love. “I am born and raised in Vegas. When DRCC was being built in Henderson, in 2000 inside the gates of MacDonald Highlands, and I saw the course, it was like none other. I was a new golfer at the time. I actually learned to play golf there. And now in 2020 to see the elegance of the homes inside of MacDonald Highlands and surrounding DRCC, and the beautiful club house, I knew I was lucky to have joined back in 2000. In 2020, DRCC/MacDonald Highlands is celebrating its 20 year anniversary. It is beautiful up here with the club overlooking the entire valley.”

As for the ladies club, there are several large events and they have been scheduled in accordance with the current health crisis.

“Our biggest event is our Ladies member guest and it is normally held the first weekend in May, but it has been postponed until October 22-24.” says Love. “It starts with a practice round on Thursday,  then a cocktail party with fun activities, such as a putting and chipping contest. On Friday, is first round of play, then lunch followed by a horse race golf event. Saturday is our last round followed by lunch, raffle and awards.”

Ongoing association events are the Ladies day each Wednesday with a game format of the day. Also, overall, the club itself has many activities that include the ladies and men’s club associations. There is a Friday game at noon and after golf is happy hour in the clubhouse. Also, there is a pro challenge, which is with one of the pros and three members, played every month, January through May until we have a winning team based on points.

“There is plenty of golf activities for every type of handicap, and, of course, the club Championship, which is gross,” Love says. “My goal as President of the DragonRidge Ladies Golf Association is to include all lady golfers, regardless of skill level and grow our membership ladies group. I want our Ladies group to be fun, yet challenging. As we grow, we will add a fall member guest, which will be one member and one guest. As well, we recently added a 9-hole group that plays after the 18 hole group on Wednesdays, so we can all have lunch together and mingle. This will resume at a time TBD. Also I, and our committee members, are always open to suggestions to make our club the best it can be.
