Johnson Brings Home State Mid-Am Title for SNGA
Daren Johnson, the 2017 Nevada State Amateur champion, defeated two former Nevada State Mid-Amateur champions to win that tournament, organized by the Nevada State Golf Association, for the first time. Johnson used a hot finish to put away Edward Fryatt and Kenny Ebalo to win by four strokes. “I had a five-shot lead after the first day but I knew playing out here can get a little dicey,” he said. “And I knew Ed (Fryatt, the 2015 and 2016 event winner) and Kenny (Ebalo, the 2014 event winner) would bounce back and they did.” — By Bill Bowman and Brian Hurlburt, Las Vegas Golf Insider.
