Logeman, Hogle, Fink, Haas, Pool, Schwartz Win Desert Pines Tour Titles

James Logeman put together a five-birdie, one bogey and one double bogey round for a two-under-par 69 and a three-stroke victory.
It was his first win in the SNGA ranks.
“I just drove it straight today,” he said. “I hadn’t played there before and that was probably a good thing because I hit driver on a lot of holes where I probably shouldn’t have but didn’t get in much trouble.”
He also credited his putter…a lot.
“The first two holes I had pretty decent-length putts for par and made them both,” he said. “That definitely helped the momentum.”
Logeman, a vice president of International Marketing at Cosmopolitan, has lived in Vegas for about 15 years but only played in a handful of SNGA events.
“It’s the first time I’ve played halfway decent in one of these things,” he said.

Michael Haas finally took his next step: Winning a title in SNGA tournament play.
Haas, who was runnerup in his last three podium finishes, posted the victory as he had net birdies on three of his final five holes.

Glenn Hogle shook off a shaky start en route to his first victory in SNGA play.
Hogle, who recently relocated to Vegas from San Diego, struggled through the first seven holes, going three-over-par. But then rallied to post a one-over-par 72.
He said it definitely took him a little bit to get his bearings after a late night at work.
“I was a little out of control for the first few holes,” he said of his three-over start. “But then I hit it OK.”
He said it was a great way to celebrate a special occasion.
“It was a fun thing to play and win the tournament on my birthday,” he said.
Overall, he said the event and the victory has him pumped up.
“The SNGA events are a ton of fun and we enjoy going head-to-head,” he said. “I’m just happy to be out there and grateful to Tim Brand and the staff for setting these tournaments up.”

Doug Pool won his second title of 2021, winning the Senior Net crown after teaming up with Steve Fink to win a team title earlier in the year.
Pool, coming off an injury rehab, said it’s just great to be back in action.
“About 10 years ago I was trying to hit a fancy shot and fell into a bunker,” he said. “I tore my rotator cuff and it’s been torn for 10 years. I aggravated it trying to work on the muscle and I couldn’t even take the club back.”
Flash forward a month and Pool is back in action on the course.
“I hit the ball pretty well,” he said. “Having not played for a month I wasn’t sure what to expect but it’s the same as if I’d never left. It wasn’t great, but it also wasn’t terrible.”

Steven Fink kept his 2021 run perfect, winning his fifth event in five SNGA tournaments.
He closed with two birdies in his final two holes to secure a five-shot victory.
“It turned out to be a solid day and a solid back nine,” Fink said. “Without question my putting was the key even though I had a couple of three putts.”
Confused? Well, Fink can clear that up.
“I had a couple of long birdie putts, 40 or 50 footers, on the first two holes,” he said. “And Desert Pines is a hard course to putt when you’re around 20 feet let alone 40 feet. I wound up making a couple of five-to-six footers to save pars so the putter did the job for me.”
As for his winning streak, he’s not taking anything for granted.
“I didn’t hit the ball that well today,” he said. “I’m not comfortable with my swing and I’ll be putting in some work on it before we go to Mesquite next weekend (April 17-18).

Jack Schwartz made it two straight SNGA victories, winning the Silver Net title with net birdies on two of his last three holes.
“I just hit the ball straight,” he said. “I can’t make any putts but I can hit it straight.”
As it turns out, his chipping made all the difference.
“It was tough to hit greens out there with the wind,” he said. “I was lucky enough to be able to hit some chips close and make some short putts.”
It didn’t start out that way.
“I three-putted the first two holes,” he said. “So that didn’t get me off to the greatest of starts. But I kept chiseling away…that’s all you can do.”
