What a year, in so many ways, with so much more yet to come as the calendar turns.

In 2023, we hit a total membership count of 17,000, which seemed extremely far fetched just a few years ago. Now, we look to hit more than 20,000 members sooner than later. Our growth trajectory and initiatives make that goal very reasonable over the next 12-18 months.

So, a HUGE thank you to our 17,000 members plus course ownership, management and golf professionals, who continue to share our passion for golf and providing the best experience possible to amateur golfers in Southern Nevada.

In addition to that milestone, we had so many terrific moments on the course in 2023 and look forward to many more in 2024. Congratulations to each of our champions and players of the year in each division in both the SNGA and Women’s SNGA.

There are many exciting things ahead for us and we will provide details as we go. We have created a 5-year strategic plan that we will begin implementing this year.

Among the highlights are to strengthen partnerships with Southern Nevada golf organizations, golf courses, stakeholders, other golf associations in other states and regions, and to promote all different kinds of golf and events including adaptive golf, junior golf, amateur golf and more.

Soon, we will share some new and valuable benefits that will be available to each of our members. This will be in addition to our 2-for-1 golf offers, travel, retail, dining, golf and other discounts, free Golf Digest and Las Vegas Golf & Leisure publications, Member Tees and Access membership, handicap services, and more.

The handicap system also continues to be refined by the USGA and R&A. As the official Allied Association of this USGA in this area, our staff and board will continue to support those efforts. We will communicate those changes to golf courses, golfers, and our more than 90 member clubs. Training and implementation services will be provided when needed.

We also remain committed to sustainability and working with local agencies to share messaging about water conservation and other measures that the golf industry has undertaken to limit its environmental footprint. We share leadership in this effort with our fellow golf associations in this area and beyond.

As I end this message, I do so with gratitude and appreciation of our board, staff, rules officials, volunteers, and membership. Together, we are making a positive difference and I am honored to serve as your president.

–Kenny Ebalo
