It was a South Show when Ronda Henderson, Sherry Jackson, Renee Rocco and Brenda Knott won the gross title at the 2024 Nevada State Women’s Quad Championship. This is the second straight state quad title for the team that plays out of various clubs and represents some of the top golfers in the state of Nevada.

They won the 2023 title by 14 strokes when the event was held at Toiyabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley, NV. In 2024, they ran away by six shots.

Consistency was the key for the group in 2024 as they put 10 birdies on the scorecard compared to having to count just six bogeys over the two days.

“We hit the ball better today than yesterday,” said Henderson, who led the South winners with five birdies over the two days. “We didn’t make as many putts today. But, on the bright side, we didn’t have as many panic holes today so it was a little less stressful although the scores were the same.”

Henderson said the team’s overall play was solid.

“We hit a lot of fairways and greens,” she said. “On most of the holes, we had three or four looks at birdie although some of the putts were a lot longer than others.”

In the end, the South team had a six-shot lead heading into the final day and just wanted to play steady golf.

“We knew with a six-shot lead our job was not to do anything stupid,” Henderson said. “We had one hole that was pretty bad but we all have enough experience that it didn’t phase us. We just said, ‘OK, we made a bogey, let’s turn it around’ and we did just that.”

Henderson added it was great to see the North well represented.

“It’s always nice to see the ladies from the North come down here,” Henderson said. “We knew that there were a lot of talented teams and we just wanted to go out and play well and see where we wound up.”
