SouthShore Country Club to Host Nevada State Match Play

“We are proud to be hosting a prestigious event for the amateur golfers around Nevada and look forward to crowning a Champion after the competition,” says James Williams, Jr. SouthShore’s director of golf.
If the 2020 rendition is any indication, it will be another epic event with the state’s top amateurs vying for the title.
Lund defeated Kenny Ebalo in 38 holes in the final match to win the championship. It was Lund’s first state title and both players represented the Southern Nevada Golf Association. The event was played at Genoa Lakes Golf Club in Northern Nevada.
“I only trailed twice the entire golf tournament and one of those times was after that 34th hole,” Lund said following his victory. “I pulled myself aside and said you’ve got to get it back. I hit a six-iron for my second shot onto the green and two-putted for par and we were back to all-square. I’ve never been that emotional after a win but I got a little teary eyed. This was just a great match and a great win.”
This year, Lund believes he will be coming into the event without his A+ game.
The accolades for SouthShore are plentiful and it was first Nicklaus signature course in Nevada. It is a previous host to the Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge and offers members and their guests a terrific member experience.
