For what is believed the first time, the Women’s Southern Nevada Golf Association schedule includes a Mid-Amateur event to be played in conjunction with the Senior Amateur. The events are both scheduled for April 18-19 at the historic Boulder City Golf Club. Golfers age 25 and over are eligible for the Mid-Am. –By Brian Hurlburt, Las Vegas Golf Insider.

According to WSNGA tournament directory Sherry Jackson, giving the younger players a little bit more challenge was the inspiration behind adding the prestigious new tournament.

“We now are providing another event in which these younger players can feel challenged,” says Jackson. “Most of the ladies who play in our events are older–much greater than 25–and our course setups reflect it. I’m sure these mid-am players will enjoy a tougher setup and playing with ladies that are closer to their age. We have some senior players who will probably sign up and will give these youngsters a run. It will be fun to watch.”

Boulder City Golf Course is the original course in Boulder City and one of the first courses in Southern Nevada. The layout features an oasis-style golf experience with plenty of trees and should challenge a player’s putter and overall short game. The course should prove to be a solid test for the mid-am and senior-am competitors.

“Boulder City Golf Course has an old-school charm and is a fun, classic, parkland design with lots of grass and trees throughout, plus challenging putting surfaces,” says Andy Schaper, Boulder City’s director of golf operations, which also includes Boulder Creek Golf Club.
