WSNGA Hosts Nevada State Senior at Highland Falls
On Nov. 5-6 at Highland Falls Golf Club in Golf Summerlin, many of the top women amateur golfers in Nevada are scheduled to play in the Women’s Nevada State Senior Amateur. The defending overall champion is the South’s Regina Quintero.
“I played my game and played the course as I know it,” she said following last year’s win. She plans to defend the title in November. “I just tried to stay out of trouble and keep my game under control.”
The overall net winner was Gabriele Buonacorsi.
For Highland Falls head professional Jim Neighbors, hosting the women is an honor for his staff and Sun City Summerlin residents.
“It’s really cool to host such a prestigious event and our staff is ready and the course is ready and we will have terrific conditions for every level of player,” Neighbors says. “Hosting a tournament like this shows the respect our course has–winning the Best of Las Vegas four of the last five years–and we are know among the more recognizable courses in the state. We take a lot of pride in our conditions and it will be great to see the top players competing out here.”
Highland Falls was designed by World Golf Hall of Famer Billy Casper and golf architect Greg Nash.
“We are setting up the course in a way that the players in the top divisions will have to hit quality shots to win the tournament, but also in a way that the higher handicappers won’t feel like it is too difficult and will have fun over the two days,” Neighbors says.
