Celebrating 30 Years of Highland Falls at Golf Summerlin

Highland Falls Golf Club was the vision of master golf course architect Greg Nash and World Golf Hall of Fame player Billy Casper. The course, one of three jewels in the Golf Summerlin area, is celebrating its 30th anniversary and it is also the home course of the Southern Nevada Golf Association. It is also a multiple winner of the Review-Journal “Best of Las Vegas” awards in the favorite golf course category.

“Highland Falls continues to be our premier course and is a favorite for locals and tourists,” Golf Summerlin general manager Donny Long, a lifelong Las Vegas resident says. “Between the city views and great conditions throughout the year, our players always return to enjoy Highland Falls.”

The course annually hosts SNGA, WSNGA, junior and other amateur tournaments. The course boasts majestic views of the Las Vegas valley and plenty of challenge on the course.

As the SNGA’s home course, members receive discounted rates and other benefits throughout the year. It’s a win-win partnership.

“The partnership has been successful for both parties,” Long says. “We enjoy having their outings throughout the year and offering SNGA members discounted rates.  I don’t believe that all SNGA members are aware that they receive discounted rates with our three facilities so we look forward to seeing new members once they read this article and learn about it. Our staff looks forward to working with executive director Ann Sunstrum and the SNGA in the upcoming years.”

Sunstrum concurred that the partnership is a positive for the Southern Nevada golf community.

“Highland Falls and Golf Summerlin are key SNGA partners and we appreciate their support as we all work together to grow the game in the Las Vegas area,” Sunstrum says. “It seems like yesterday that Highland Falls was built and both Mr. Nash and Mr. Casper were holding the special grand opening festivities and the course is a part of the fabric of golf in Southern Nevada. We congratulate the staff and surrounding residents on an amazing three decades and look forward to many more memories.”

Official description

Highland Falls lives up to its name with lofty elevation at more than 3,000 feet. Panoramic views of the Las Vegas strip are abundant throughout; the rolling hills of the front nine become steeper on the back side. Besides elevation changes, rich fairways and strategically placed bunkering makes each of Highland Falls’ eighteen holes fun, fair and challenging. Risk and reward golf shot opportunities are plentiful on the back nine. (par-72, 6,512 yards, rating/slope 70.1/119)
