Six WSNGA Team Play Series Squads Set For Playoff Finale
And then there were six. The original 19 teams in the 2023 WSNGA Team Play series has been whittled down to the final six teams following the regular season finale held May 22-23, 2023, in Mesquite. The Blue and Red divisions will now have six teams total (three each) with a representative in the overall, gross and net competing in the playoffs, which will be held June 8, 2023, at Boulder Creek Golf Club. –by Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider
Competing for the Overall title will be the Blue Division’s Business Women up against the Red Division’s Boulder City Rock Steady. The Gross crown will feature the Blue Division’s Chimera Silver against the Red Division’s Los Prados while the Net title will see the Blue Division’s Siena face the Red Division’s Anthem.
Nancy Lauback, WSNGA Team Play Coordinator, said the three final matchups should see tight battles.
“Everybody’s really excited,” Lauback said. “It’s going to come down to strategy and how the captains put their players out there. It’s up to the captains to put out a lineup they feel can get them the most points.”
Each team faced every other team in their division once during the regular season for the chance to be in the title matches.
“These players want to win,” Lauback said. “It’s what they have fought for all year. They will all have their best teams out there and will be playing their hearts out.”
After all, this is for all the marbles.
“They are going to fight for every point,” Lauback said. “Runnerup is good, but you can’t beat being the champion.”
Lauback said the team event just keeps getting more and more interest every year.
“So many of these teams and players know each other as friends and competitors,” Lauback said. “It’s just a cool way to get to know so many different women from around the valley.”
