WSNGA President Rusty Beckel Ready to Head Into 2024 with Executive Board
Rusty Beckel, president, Women’s Southern Nevada Golf Association. is ready for her second term. She recently took some time to reflect upon the last couple years, while also looking ahead at what is to come in 2024 and beyond.
“The WSNGA is an outstanding organization that brings together women golfers of all skill levels to participate in events that provide fun, competition and community,” Beckel said. “I am honored that the Board has elected me to a second term to continue the progress we have made over the past couple of years.”
Beckel outlined some of the accomplishments and thanked her board for assistance and leadership throughout.
“The WSNGA Executive Board is comprised of talented women that help define and conduct our championships, team play program, fun days, Silver Cup and coordinate with SNGA with our majors, State events and Women’s Golf Day,” Beckel said.
WSNGA highlights:
- We have re-energized our FUN days that target skill and geographic diversity. We have seen many ‘new’ faces at our fun days!
- We have innovated a couple of events to try to increase participation in our championships. We added a new Stableford, which was highly successful, and created a Mid-Am, which we will continue to try and improve participation.
- Our Team Play program continues to be our most popular program and it continues to grow. Our ladies love the team competition and the friends that they meet along the way!
- We are launching a first ever WSNGA AWARDS program to recognize Women’s golf achievements in our community. Those winners will be announced during the annual Tournament of Champions Event hosted by the SNGA in January.
- Our Silver Cup Captains brought the Silver Cup home with a WIN in the North!
Beckel said that women golfers all of levels in Southern Nevada are welcome to become more involved in the WSNGA.
“We welcome players at all parts of their golf ‘journeys’ and women who become involved with the WSNGA will see that our programs are dedicated to women and in some ways uniquely designed for women,” Beckel said. “As women get involved at the organizational level, they will see that all member clubs have a say in what we do, how we do it and who is on our leadership team.”
Beckel said that some longtime and much appreciated women are stepping away from the board while new women will be stepping in to continue the WSNGA goals and also establish some new visions. In the January newsletter, there will be more about those women who stepped away in addition to a look at the new women on the board.
“I am excited that there are a few new officers on our Executive Board,” Beckel said. “These ladies will bring a great perspective on how we engage and connect with our members and prospective members. Our goals for the next two years will be defined more fully by this group of ladies as we organize and kick off our 2024 season. But core to our goals will be to keep our organization strong and grow women’s involvement by continuing to provide programs that add value to a wide audience of women golfers.
“I am honored to be WSNGA’s President, but truth be known, the success of our organization goes to the talented WSNGA Executive Board members and Committee Chairwomen. They do the heavy lifting. We look forward to a fun and successful 2024!”
